Holy Spirit Catholic Community Is A Ministry
Of The Congregation Of The Holy Spirit

Holy Spirit Catholic Community
Hemet, California

Faith Formation, the catechetical department of the Parish offers age-specific, inter-generational and lifelong catechesis for elementary to senior high youth, families and adults. The department encompasses Initiation, Re-membering church and Small Faith Communities.

A formational, versus an educational model is central in all that is offered. This process is very family and parish-centered. We believe that it takes all of the family and the whole parish to adequately pass on, nurture and sustain our Catholic identity, faith and traditions.

Our curriculum is taken primarily from the weekly scriptual text in the Lectionary. Both young and adults are treated as active participants promoting dialogue and faith sharing, encouraging critical reflection and engaging their reason, memory and imagination.
The catechist links the liturgical year, celebrations, rites, community building and active involvement in the works of mercy, justice and peace to learning.

Lectionary catechesis covers the basic doctrinal points of our faith:
The mystery of the one God: Trinity Sunday, Baptism of the Lord and Pentecost, creation,, Lent and Easter.
Jesus Christ: All Sundays, especially Christ the King, Epiphany, Baptism Palm Sunday, Presentation and Advent Sunday.
The Holy Spirit: Sundays of Easter, Pentecost, Baptism of the Lord.
The Church Easter Season.
Sacraments: Baptism of the Lord, Lent, Esaster season
Life of Grace: Lent, Easter
The moral life: Ordinary time
Mary and the Saints: Advent, All Saints, Marion feasts and some Sundays of Ordinary time.
Death, Judgement and eternity: End of Ordinary time, Advent and AllSaints.

The Faith Formation Department is composed of an advisory council, coordinators of specific ministries of the catechetical ministry under the commission of the pastor.
